Established in 1997, Teatro Verde is a luxury florist, gift, and home store located in the heart of Yorkville in Toronto. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when most brick-and-mortar stores were forced to close, Shawn Gibson and Michael Pellegrino, the florists and owners decided to take their business online to offer beautiful flowers and accessories to their customers, remotely.
When the pandemic ended, the world had changed, and the company reopened on the ground floor of the same Yorkville Village Shopping Centre but with a different focus. With the website and social media experiences now core to the brand, the entrepreneurs set about engineering an upscale shopping experience.
To maintain consistency and reduce costs, the owners brought their signature blue on silver sign with them upstairs to their new location. The letters were taken from the wall outside their previous basement shop and added to a brushed aluminum cabinet that hangs in the window. The sign carries the same letters with which their consumers are so familiar.
The project was to create or recreate an illuminated sign and relocate the wall sign to a ground floor shop where it will hang from the ceiling and be visible behind the glass in the shop’s front window. The new shop is on the main floor of the Yorkville Village Shopping Centre.

This is an illuminated wall sign, and the letters were relocated from a previous indoor lobby sign that was displayed in another location in the same mall.
The sign is supported by two aluminum hanging posts attached to the ceiling. The wiring for the LED lights enters the cabinet through these poles, which are hollow.
Teatro Verde is a decorator and event designer offering unique floral services for corporate events, weddings and funerals, and other special occasions. They specialize in make floral gifts and arrangements with regular rotations for home or office. Their sign must be fetching.
Upscale Shop Window with Frosted Vinyl Application
Frosted vinyl applications create an upscale diffused look for office glass, or any window signs. This resembles acid glass or etched glass but is a less expensive alternative. This window space is 35” wide x 84” high and has a curved top with reverse cut-out logo letters.
As a design team, Shawn and Michael are famous for their aesthetic sensibilities. They’re not afraid to mix period styles, ethnicities, time periods and icons. The signs in their shop windows should represent their abilities because they’re the first things consumers will see as they become aware of the business in the mall.
